Review: Wet n Wild LE Going in the Wild Palette 2013

 Today I wanted to review for you the limited edition Wet n Wild Going in the Wild palette. This palette has been getting a lot of buzz online in the makeup community. Since I have had this palette for awhile, I thought it would be appropriate to do a full review with swatches. I just want to start out by saying that acquiring this palette was incredibly difficult and I was only able to find this palette with the top pan broken. 

Here's what this palette looks like up close. The shades have a fair amount of shimmer in them. The palette comes with a little application and no mirror.

Review:

Pigmentation 6/10

The Going in the Wild palette has less pigmentation than normal Wet n Wild shadows in my opinion. Some of the shadows in the palette (the mint green) are definitely more pigmented than others. Some of the lighter shades have fairly weak pigmentation. I was shocked at the quality of these shadows compared to normal Wet n Wild. 

Blendability 7/10

These shadows weren't the worst at blending, but they definitely did not live up to normal Wet n Wild shadows to me. I found that some of the shadows would go on streaky, making it hard to blend. Some of the shadows would virtually disappear when I would blend.

Texture 8/10

I found these shadows to feel fairly smooth when going on, just as normal Wet n Wild shadows feel very buttery. The shadows in Going in the Wild feel somewhat softer than most shadows and as a result they tended to crumble for me.

Fallout 4/10

I am going to start out by showing the photo to the right. This was my first time using this palette. As you can tell, the mint color went on very patchy and created a very, very bad fallout mess onto my face. The mint color definitely had more fallout than the other shades. The fallout occured AFTER tapping off my brush.

Packaging 6/10

The packaging is pretty standard Wet n Wild but it has cuter white designs on it. The packaging is lacking a mirror, which is a down side in my opinion.

Overall 6.2/10

I was very disappointed by this palette, especially since I had hunted it down for so many weeks. The palette has pretty colors, but you must be super careful using them due to the enormous amount of fallout. Would I repurchase? No, I would not. 

Review: Lorac Unzipped

 Hello everyone! Happy Saturday! Today I have a review on Lorac Unzipped palette. This palette doesn't seem to get a lot of attention in the makeup community, so I thought I would try to give a detailed post with some honest opinions. I tend to reach for this palette a lot, so it definitely warrants a review.

 Packaging: As you can tell the palette is pretty sleek and features 10 neutral shadows that are either shimmery or matte. Four of the eyeshadows are matte and the remaining six are shimmery. The palette is small and would be easy to travel with. Lorac Unzipped features a good sized mirror that is very clear. 

 The above photo was taken in natural lighting with flash. As you can tell, the shimmery shadows have a gorgeous sheen that really catches in the flash. All of the shadows were swatches on bare skin without primer.

Review: 

Pigmentation 10/10

The eyeshadows in Lorac Unzipped are incredibly pigmented. It only takes a little bit of the shadow to get the desired opacity I need/want. I find that Lorac shadows are just as pigmented as Urban Decay. 

Blendability 10/10

Lorac Unzipped's eyeshadows go on very easily and blend very easily. I was extremely impressed by how little effort it required to blend out any of these shades, including the mattes. I find that these shadows are good for a day where I don't want to sit there and blend forever. 

Texture 9/10

Lorac Unzipped's eyeshadows are very soft and feel very smooth on the lids. They do not show up patchy at all. Compared to Lorac Pro Palette, these shadows are not as soft, but as a result they do not crumble as easily either. 

Fallout 9/10

There is minimal shadow with this palette. If you go too quickly and pick up too much, you may notice a little bit of fallout, but not nearly as bad as UD shadows. I never have to clean up under my eyes when I use this palette. The lack of fallout makes this palette ideal for daily use when you don't want to spend too much time on  your makeup.

Packaging 9/10

There's nothing wrong with the packaging of this palette at all. It has a sleek design that is easy to take with you. It does not receive a perfect rating because the packaging is somewhat boring to look at. There's nothing wrong with the packaging of Lorac Unzipped, but there is not really anything special about it either.

Overall 9.4/10

I absolutely love this palette. The shadows are gorgeous with minimal fallout. I find myself reaching for this palette way more than any of my other neutral palettes. The shadows blend easily and have a variety of mattes and shimmers.

I would repurchase this palette.

Review/Swatches: Urban Decay Naked2 Palette

 Hello everyone! I finally have my review of Urban Decay Naked 2 palette to share with you all! This palette was the follow up

to the original Urban Decay Naked palette. Both palettes retail for approximately $50 or so. I think the original Naked palette may have dropped in price. I got this palette because I am in the process of becoming a professional, so I will be needing neutral colors for work. I wanted something with some shimmer to keep things fun! This palette had phenomenal reviews, so I thought I would pick it up. I think I got this palette back in August or late July. The above photo is the day that I purchased it. 
Let's take a look at some swatches before I jump into the actually review. 

The above swatches were taken without any kind of primer and were taken with flash. The shimmers really catch the  light from the flash well. 

 The above swatches were taken in natural lighting without flash and without primer. There are only 3 mattes in this palette. Blackout (the black) is matte!

Here are some of the eye shadows up close (no primer and using flash). 

Review: 

Pigmentation 10/10

These shadows are incredibly pigmented, even without an eye shadow primer or white base. Even the matte shadows have good pigmentation. 

Blendability 9/10

I do not have any issues blending these shadows. Some of the shadows blend a little easier than others, but overall no issues. 

Texture 10/10

In my experience, most Urban Decay eye shadows are buttery smooth. The Naked 2 palette is no exception. All of the shadows are very soft, but not too soft to the point where they crumble. They feel nice on the lids. 

Fallout 7/10

There is definitely fallout with the Naked 2 palette. In particular, Chopper has a lot of fallout due to the glitter that is in it. I do get fallout with most of these shadows. I recommend tapping off your brush before you use the shadows. I always use a patting motion to get the shadows on with the least amount of fallout. I would also recommend doing your eye shadow first when using the Naked 2 palette. 

Packaging 10/10

Urban Decay Naked 2 palette has wonderful packaging that is made of metal. The palette snaps closed, too. I have traveled with this palette many times and have not had any issues with shadows getting damaged. The packaging is a little thick, but overall nothing to complain about there. 

Overall 9.2/10

Urban Decay Naked 2 palette really doesn't have anything about it that is a turn off for the product (except the fallout). Despite this, I have found myself getting bored of this palette very easily. I tend to reach for other palettes. The age old question - do you need both the Urban Decay Naked and Naked 2? In my opinion, the two palettes are different enough. With that in mind, I would rather recommend to purchase one of the Naked palettes and then get something like Lorac Pro.

Lorac Glogetter - Swatches/First Impressions

Hello everyone! I am very excited to share with you Lorac's new palette, GLOgetter. With Spring in full bloom, I have been wanting a colorful palette that has good, quality shadows. I spotted this puppy on Ulta.com via a friend and could not resist! 

This palette is sold exclusively at Ulta stores and retails for $20. There is 0.6 oz/17.2 g of product. The packaging features this cute box that is blue and gold with shiny detailing. The palette features 8 vibrant shadows and two neutral/highlighting shadows that are larger. 

 Here's what the actual palette looks like once it is out of the box. It is brown with a gold border and features the LORAC name in blue. The palette is slightly larger than my cellphone, so it is very compact. The palette is also fairly thin.

 The brown on the far left is the only true matte in the palette. The rest have some shimmer or shine to them. 

Here's a quick look that I did using the shadows. I am in love with that mint color!

My impressions of this palette: GREAT for spring. The colors feel velvety soft and blend very easily. The colors have a beautiful shine to them (esp on the mint color it has a gold shine to it!). This is exactly what I was wanting in a colorful palette. The shadows are gorgeous and very pigmented too. I didn't even need a white base to make them show up. The quality feels the same as other Lorac shadows that I have. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

Review: Wet n Wild Megalast Lipsticks

 Hello everyone! I finally decided to finish up my Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick review. I had been putting it off because I was hoping my opinion on this product would change, but it did not. Above you can see the four shades that I have: Dollhouse Pink, Just Peachy, Rosebud, and Purty Persimmon. There are a lot more colors in the line, but I only picked up these four. These retail for about $1.99 at Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, etc. 

Packaging: 5/10 The packaging to the Wet n Wild Megalast lipsticks is nothing special. They come in these black tubes with a clear plastic lid. The clear lid is nice because you can see the color. Despite this, I find that the lipstick often touches the clear lid, making it look nasty. The lipstick is very flat, as you can tell. 

Here are swatches of the four colors. 

These lipsticks are very pigmented, as you can tell by the swatches. They are also very matte.

Rosebud is a dusty rose color.

Dollhouse Pink is a very bright, cool toned pink.

 Just Peachy is my favorite color of these. It is a great peach for my pale skin tone. 

Purty Persimmon is a orange/red color. 

Review: 

Application: 5/10

I find that the WetnWild Megalast Lipsticks are difficult to apply due to their flat shape. I often find myself ending up outside of the lines and having to wipe it off. The lipsticks are very thick and tend to stick to every line and dry patch in my lips. I do not find that these blend very well with my lips either due to the thickness and heavy pigmentation. They block out your entire lips, so you have to be careful with the application. 

Pigmentation: 10/10

No doubt that these WetnWild Megalast Lipsticks are pigmented. They are incredibly pigmented to the point of blocking out your entire lip color. For the price, you can't beat the pigmentation.

Texture: 6/10

These lipsticks are 100% matte. If you like that, great! If not, you won't like these. The texture is very thick and heavy. I can definitely feel these sitting on my lips. Kinda feels like you have some thick food stuck to your lips. These lipsticks are incredibly drying. I find that even with adding vaseline, they are still fairly drying. If your lips never get dry, go for these.

Lasting Power ?

I am unsure how to rate these on lasting power because my lips always become so dry that I end up wiping them off after about an hour or so. 

Color Selection: 9/10

This range of lipsticks comes in a variety of colors from reds, purple, neutrals, and pinks. 

Overall: 6.5/10

These lipsticks are very pigmented, but they are very very drying. I find these to be hard to apply. I would not repurchase these. Let me know what you think of these!

Review: Milani Color Statement Flamingo Pose and Sangria

Hello! Today I have a review on the new Milani Color Statement lipsticks. These can be purchased at CVS, some Walgreens, and Rite Aid. They retail for about $5.49 or so. They are very affordable and come in a variety of shades. I picked up two shades that seemed unique - Sangria and Flamingo Pose. Let's jump into the review!

 The packaging is very nice on these. The lipsticks are a shiny gold with the Milani logo printed on them. The bottom squares show what color the lipstick is. I find this really helpful, as I put them upside down in my lipstick holder. They are easy to find that way!

Here's what the lipsticks look like when you open them up. 

 Here are the swatches of the two lipsticks in natural lighting without flash. Both colors have a slight shimmer to them. Sangria is more matte than Flamingo Pose is. Neither color is actually matte.

Flamingo Pose is a bright pink. It is true to color as what you see in the swatch. It goes on very easily, but it can get messy due to how pigmented it is. I would definitely recommend a lip liner for both of these lipsticks.

 Sangria has been described as a dupe of Mac's Rebel, which is a very popular color. This was actually the reason why I picked up Sangria. I do not own Rebel, so I cannot say for sure if it is a dupe. You be the judge of that. Sangria is a berry color that leans more to the purple side. The color is slightly more drying than Flamingo Pose, but neither shade is uncomfortable to wear.

Application: 9/10

These can be messy! They are very pigmented and it can be hard for me to stay in the lines. I would recommend a lip liner for that reason. The lipsticks glide on with ease and do not give me any problems. The colors can be built up or can be worn more sheer. 

Pigmentation 10/10

The Milani Color Statement lipsticks are crazy pigmented. They are some of the most pigmented lipsticks I have come across. The colors are vibrant and really make a statement, just as the name suggests. I have been complimented multiple times on how bright these lipsticks are. Both shades are very opaque. 

Lasting Power 10/10

The Milani Color Statement Lipsticks have incredible lasting power. I can wear these lipsticks for the majority of my 5-6 hour work days. I have eaten entire meals in these shades and there has still been color on my lips. I find that both Sangria and Flamingo Pose stain the lips. If you do not like lipsticks that stain, these are not for you. They do not dry out my lips during the wear time either. They remain comfortable. I hardly notice that I am wearing them. 

Color Selection 10/10

There are 27 shades of Milani Color Statement lipsticks that range from pinks, reds/oranges, berries, and nudes. I believe there is a shade for everyone in this line. 

Scent:

These lipsticks have a scent that reminds me of Jollyranchers. If you do not like scent, these probably aren't for you. I find that I do not notice the scent after the lipstick has been on. It is just noticeable in the tube and during the application process. 

Overall: 9.5/10

I would definitely repurchase these. I do plan on getting more shades as well. They are pigmented, comfortable to wear, and long lasting. Let me know down below if you have tried any of the Milani Color Statement lipsticks. 

Review: Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Liners

I have another review for you today on the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Liners. I have four of these and absolutely love them, so I thought it would be great to pass my opinions onto you. Excuse the nude one on the far right. It looks a little messed up. Let's get started with some swatches!

 Review: 

The Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof liners were released not too long ago. They contain .042 oz of product (1.2 grams). They can be purchased at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Ulta, etc. Some gurus have compared these to Urban Decay 24/7 liners. I haven't tried the UD ones, so I am not going to compare them, but just know that those reviews are out there.

Texture: 10/10

These Rimmel liners are incredibly creamy. They glide on very easily and feel very comfortable. They do not scratch your eye at all, even after sharpening. They are very soft, and can sometimes melt. 

Pigmentation: 10/10

The liners are incredibly pigmented and vibrant. The colors show up very well on the eyes and draw attention. I was actually very surprised by the color pay off on these liners. 

Lasting Power: 9/10

I find that these Waterproof Liners last on my waterline for a very long time (8+ hours). This is quite the accomplishment because nothing ever lasts on my waterline for very long. I tend to have watery eyes. I don't have any issues with these smudging. Once they dry (few seconds), you can try to smear them and nothing happens. 

Waterproof: 10/10

I just ran my hand under water and tried scrubbing at the liner swatches. Nothing happened. They didn't bleed or move around at all. The color still looks just as vibrant, too.

Price: 10/10

The price of these at Ulta.com is $4.49. They can be purchased here. These liners are an absolute steal at this price. I would still purchase them if they were $10. I believe they are worth that much.

Color Selection: 7/10

There are 10 colors on the Ulta website. The colors are  mostly shades of blue (deep blue, light blue, turquoise). There is a black and a sparkly black, as well as a silver. I would love to see this line expand and have even more colors like green, pink, and orange.

Overall Thoughts: 9/10
I absolutely love these liners. They are by far the best drugstore liners out there right now. They are long lasting and are, indeed, waterproof. They are creamy and comfortable. I will definitely be buying all of the colors in this line.

Review: NYX Blushes in Cinnamon and Desert Rose

Hi everyone! Today I have a review on the NYX Powder Blushes in Cinnamon and Desert Rose. These blushes can be purchased at NYX's website or at Ulta.com or Ulta stores. The blushes are reasonably priced, around $5 or so. I thought since I have been hanging on to these for about a year that I should do a full review on them.

Cinnamon

Color is a bright orange. It is not completely matte, it has a bit of a shine to it. The color would be most appropriate for darker skin tones. It pulls very orange on me.

 Desert Rose

Color has some shimmer and shine to it. Somewhat purple colored. Very pigmented. 

Review:
Texture: 7/10

The biggest reason for the decrease in points in this section is that these blushes are very powdery. They crumble very easily when you dip your brush into them. You ALWAYS have to tap off the excess to avoid picking up too much product. 

Pigmentation: 10/10

These blushes are INCREDIBLY pigmented. When I say this, I mean that these are the most pigmented blushes that I own. They are so pigmented that it can easily become a problem when using them. You have to make sure to pick up the smallest amount to begin with and make sure you tap off any excess color. I often will have to take a kabuki brush and blend out the color due to how pigmented they are. 

Blendability: 8/10

The NYX blushes blend somewhat easily. The biggest issue with blending is that it can easily become out of control due to the fallout and high pigmentation. You really have to apply a small amount, blend, and then apply more and blend again. These are not the easiest product to blend. 

Color Selection: 6/10

NYX Powder Blushes come in 12 shades. Despite this, I have found that most of the colors fall into the pink family. There is not a huge difference in some of the colors, leading to a lower rating in this area. If you are a huge fan of pink blushes, you would probably enjoy the color selection of this line. 

Fall out: 7/10

These blushes definitely have fallout due to their powdery texture. You really have to be careful and TAP OFF YOUR BRUSH.

Lasting Power: 8/10

I haven't noticed any problems with the lasting power of these blushes. They get me through an 8 hour work shift just fine. 

Overall 7/10

I am not super crazy about these blushes, but they are OK. Their intense pigmentation can be somewhat problematic as well. I do not think that I would repurchase any of their blushes because I find they are somewhat of a hassle to work with because of the pigmentation and fallout. Do I hate them? Not at all. I just don't find myself reaching for these blushes that much.

Review: Maybelline Color Tattoos

Hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I was sick with the flu for several days. I do have some reviews, nails, and FOTD to post, so let me get started. I wanted to do a review on the Maybelline Color Tattoos since I have finally used them each enough to form a solid opinion. I have four different colors to review out of the entire collection. The colors I have from top left are Barely Branded, Tough as Taupe, Edgy Emerald, and Electric Blue.

Let's take a closer look at each of the colors:

Edgy Emerald - Part of the permanent line

Color has some shimmer to it.

Easy to work with/blends easily

Electric Blue - Metal Line - Limited Edition 

Color has shimmer to it.

Most difficult of the 4 to work with.

Have to keep adding to it to build up the intensity.

 Tough as Taupe - Permanent Line

**Color is matte.

Easiest to work with of the 4.

Makes a great base for any shadows.

 Barely Branded - Metal Line - Limited Edition

Color has shimmer to it.

Fairly easy to work with/blend.

Makes a great face highlighter (cheeks)

Review:

These eyeshadows are cream shadows that can be used as eyeshadow bases, colors on their own, highlighter (if you use Barely Branded), and can be used as eyeliner. They are supposed to last for 24hours, according to Maybelline. 

Color selection: 10/10

Maybelline has 9 permanent shades in the range. Their selection has orange, purple, gray, bronze, pomegranate, teal, gold, and emerald. They have released several limited edition colors. 

Pigmentation: 9/10

The Maybelline color tattoos are very pigmented. The only reason why I gave this section of the review a 9 instead of a 10 is that some of the colors lose a lot of their pigmentation once you try to blend them out. Electric Blue is definitely guilty of this. Just be aware that you may have to build up some of the colors to get the desired level of pigmentation. Fortunately, the colors are very buildable. 

Texture: 10/10

Color Tattoos have a very creamy, soft texture. The shadows do not feel heavy or like they are weighing down your lids at all. They go on smooth and feel comfortable all day. Barely branded is the only matte and I love the texture of it over the more shimmery colors. They have a slightly sticky texture that  makes eyeshadows cling onto it quite well. They make wonderful bases and can really help increase the wear time of your shadows.

Blendability: 8/10

Color Tattoos can be somewhat difficult to blend with a brush, but easily blend out with your finger. Make sure that you always use clean hands to avoid bacteria getting into your Tatoos. Electric Blue is the hardest to blend. It can become somewhat patchy when you are blending it. Of the four shades I own, Electric Blue has to have an eyeshadow over it to set it. 

Lasting Power: 9/10

I want to start off by saying that I have very oily lids. With that in mind, Tattoos do not last on me for 24 hours. I wear an eye primer under the Color Tattoos to get the longest life out of them. On a normal day of 8-10 hours, I do not find that I get any creasing on these. After about 11 hours I tend to start rubbing my eyes (bad habit I know!), so I cannot really say if it lasts too much longer than that. I find that Barely Branded creases the easiest on me. 

Packaging: 10/10

The containers that house the Color Tatoos are very sturdy and have a nice weight to them. The containers are made of glass and screw on very tightly. I love the packaging!

Overall thoughts: 9/10

I really love these Maybelline Color Tattoos. They hold up very well. The picture to the left shows what happened after I tried scrubbing the colors off with water. As you can see, the Tattoos hardly budged! I will definitely repurchase these when I run out. I especially love Tough as Taupe. I use it every single day. It really brings out the beauty of my Urban Decay Naked 2 shadows. I would definitely recommend.
