Swatches: New Revlon Lip Butters in Juicy Papaya and Wild Watermelon

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share some swatches of the newer shades of Revlon Lip Butters. I picked these two babies up at Target several months ago, but I have yet to see them at CVS or Walgreens in my area. The formula is the same as other lip butters.

Here's what they look like inside the tube.

I can definitely see myself using these as two staples for the summer. They are very hydrating and easy to throw into your pursue. You have to be careful with Lip Butters as they can melt. Juicy Papaya has been my go to every day shade. Wild Watermelon is a fun way to do a bold lip during summer. Hope you all enjoyed these swatches!

FOTD: Color Blocked Makeup

Hello everyone! I have a quick Face of the Day for you. Today's challenge to myself was to create a makeup look using color blocking. Color blocking is where you use several different colors together. I tend to think of color blocking as being taking something back to the basics (not too complex) and using more primary colors. I thought I would take a spin off the retro look with the winged liner and bold lips with this look. I used blue to create my liner and two different toned lipsticks to create the lip look.

Review: Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation and Powder (photo heavy)

Today's review is on Revlon's new Nearly Naked foundation. Some people have compared this to Urban Decay's Naked skin foundation. I have never tried it, so I really can't make a call on that. I tried this foundation out for about a week or so. At that point I knew very well that it was not for me. But before I jump the gun, let me go into specifics about the product.

Foundation texture:
This foundation was very liquidy and thin. It came out of the bottle very quickly and dripped down my hand.

Foundation Application:
I tried this foundation with two different brushes - Sigma Flat Top Kabuki F80 and Real Techniques Expert Face brush. I was able to buff the foundation into my skin easily. I didn't have to work super quickly either.

Foundation Finish:
The finish on this was somewhat dewy.

 Powder Texture:
I really really enjoyed the texture of this powder. It is very soft and silky feeling. It feels really nice when you apply it to your face.

Powder Application:
I used this powder with my large powder brush from Real Techniques. It was easy to apply and matched the foundation very well. It felt soft and smooth going onto my skin.

Powder Finish:
Somewhat matte. Not as matte as some other powders.

With these things in mind, let's see my before and after with this routine.
As you can see, the foundation is a light coverage. It really struggled at covering my under eye circles. Up close on my skin, I was still able to see some imperfections. My skin does look "healthy" and somewhat youthful in the after photo.

In the photo above I show what the foundation looks like by itself vs with the powder on top. The powder really increases the amount of coverage provided. It helps get rid of some of the dewyness from the foundation.

Here is a side view where I have acne scarring and active breakouts. You can see that the powder helps a little with covering it up, but it still does not quite get the job done.

Lasting Power:
This foundation did not stay on my oily skin very well at all. It would start to slide around on  my face. In fact, I have never used a foundation that made my skin feel this greasy after a few hours. I would notice that I would be quite shiny (even with the powder on top). I tried the foundation with my ELF HD powder and it still got greasy after a few hours. I also found that this foundation oxidized on my skin. This means that it changed color. It became darker and somewhat orangey on me. This made me look greasy and orange as the day went on. It was not very flattering at all.

Final verdict:
If you have oily skin like I do, I would not recommend this foundation. I would just splurge and try the Urban Decay Naked skin foundation. I have not heard that many negative things about that foundation. The Revlon Nearly Naked foundation was a huge disappointment to me and I promptly returned it to Walmart. I did keep the powder because it is soft and nice. I am still waiting to see how it holds up with my Revlon Colorstay. Stay tuned!

Products I have wanted to try - Haul

Hello everyone! I am back with a haul of products I have been meaning to try out for a really long time. I finally got around to purchasing a few of these products to try out.

ELF Flat Top Powder brush - I have heard people rave and rave about this brush. For $3 I thought that I may as well go ahead and try it out. I haven't used it yet, but the bristles feel very soft. I don't own any brushes with a flat top, so I am excited to see how it performs. I have heard of people using this brush for foundation, powder, and blush. I will do a review on the brush once I have had time to really try it out.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation - This foundation has really lit up the internet with rave reviews. I have even heard people say it is the best drugstore foundation. With all the reviews, I was itching to try it. I had to return my Revlon Nearly Naked foundation for reasons I will explain in my review of it (coming very soon).

Maybelline Color Tattoos - I think the color tattoos came out about a year ago and since then beauty bloggers have expressed their love for the products. I thought it would be a cool product to try out. I haven't tried cream eyeshadows before. I purchased Electric Blue, Tough as Taupe, and Barely Branded.

L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow - I picked up Golden Emerald to try out. The color looked absolutely beautiful and really jumped out at me. These are supposed to be somewhat similar to the color tattoos I just mentioned. By purchasing some of each brand I can really compare them.

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer - I have seen beauty bloggers use this product for a few months now and it has really made me want to try out this concealer. I have heard mixed reviews that it covers under eye circles for some and not for others. I am hunting for a good under eye concealer, so this made me want to give this a try.

I hope you guys enjoyed my little haul of products I have been dying to try. Let me know which products you would like a review on and if you have tried out these products let me know what you think.

FOTD: Orange Lip

I don't know about all of you, but I am dying for Spring to come. I am getting somewhat tired of darker makeup. I really needed to create a look that was bright and fun. Something that reminded me of Spring time. The first thought that came to my mind was an orange lip. I wore Revlon Lip Butter in Tuitti Fruitti almost the entire last Spring. I absolutely love that color. Since I am in the process of trying out the WetnWild Megalast Lipcolors, I thought I would try the coral of the bunch.

First Attempt at Bright Pink Lips

Good Saturday afternoon! I wanted to bring another face of the day post with my first time using my new WetnWild Megalast Lipstick in Dollhouse Pink. I thought it would be kind of a fun thing to try out because I do not own any lipsticks in a bright pink shade.

Because the color was so dramatic and bright, I blotted the color down to this. I think that it is a lot more wearable once blotted down.

Sleek iDivine Palette in Oh So Special

Revlon

Breaking No Makeup November

Last year during November, my friend and I engaged in No Makeup November. I was able to successfully go the entire month without makeup. This year has been much more of a struggle due to my skin going crazy and repeatedly breaking out. I decided to do a purple lip for class today after I evened out my horrible skin. This was the result. The photo quality is not the best, but it will have to do.

Products used:

FOTD: Wet n Wild Comfort Zone Palette

I just purchased the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone Palette. I have to say that this is probably the best neutral palette that I own for brown eyes. The greens really compliment my brown eyes. The shadows are sooo creamy and pigmented. Let me know if I should do a review on this palette. Here's the work appropriate look that I did for my job today.

The photo to the right was taken in natural lighting without flash.

Makeup Collection!

Hi everyone! I thought it would be really neat to do a comprehensive photo of all of the makeup that I currently own. I put all of my makeup together for the above photo. I'll point out some specific things that I own within this photo to comment on if I like it or not.

Palettes I own:
Urban Decay Naked
Urban Decay Naked 2 - Love the colors. Great for everyday
Sigma Paris Palette - bright teals and purples
BH Cosmetics 88 Standard Shimmer - good color pay off and very affordable.
BH Cosmetics 88 Cool Matte

I also wanted to show my lipstick collection!

Let me know if you want a review of any of the products seen here!

Review/Swatches: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

My most recent rave has got to be for the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. OMG I love these! These have to be the first lip color that I have tried that have actually lasted throughout most of the day.

Let's get into the review then!
I have purchased the above four of these. Honey, Sweetheart Valentine, Smitten, and Lovesick. Let's see some swatches before I go into my thoughts about them.

Review:
Colors: 9/10 The colors are very vibrant and beautiful. They look very nice applied to the lips. I received several compliments while wearing Honey and Sweetheart Valentine. (I wore the other two mostly around the house). The only reason why I'd give the coloring 9/10 is that I don't think the colors are perfectly true to the packaging. Smitten looks darker in the packaging than it actually applies. This will really vary depending on your natural lip color. Overall, I love the colors. Here are the colors applied to my lips, so that you can compare how they actually look on.
Here's a photo of me without any makeup for reference.

Honey:
This is definitely the most wearable and work appropriate shade of the bunch. It took me forever to get my hands on it because it was constantly sold out wherever I looked. This color looks very similar on me to Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait. This photo is taken in natural light without any flash. I think this color would be flattering on a lot of people.

Lovesick:

This color is very bright and fun. I think it makes a good night out color. This photo was also taken in natural light outside without a flash. This color is a sort of fushia. I wouldn't wear this color everyday, but I think it is a really interesting color. It is definitely outside of the colors that I own or would normally wear.

Sweetheart Valentine:

I think this color would be work appropriate. I did wear this to work and receive several compliments. The color is softer than the previous color (Lovesick). This photo was taken in natural lighting, as well. I think the color is very flattering, especially when worn with a light peach blush and a neutral eye.

This is probably my favorite of the four.

Smitten:

This color is the darkest of the four that I bought. This photo was also taken in natural light without a flash. I think this color will be a nice color for fall. It's somewhere in between a dark pink and a plum-y color. I would also recommend wearing this color out on a date. I think it would be flattering with a little black dress.

Application: 10/10
I find that these are incredibly easy to apply. Their crayon-like design makes it easy to fill in my lips, especially in the corners of my mouth. The Balm Stains twist up from the bottom (silver part), making it easy to get more if you need it. You do not need to sharpen these (yay!).

Balm-qualities: 9.5/10
These do NOT dry out my lips, even after hours of wear. This is important for me because my lips dry out very, very easily. I am in a constant state of needing chapstick. I do not need chapstick. gloss over these, or anything else. They are fairly conditioning (not as much as the Revlon Lip Butters, but the color on these lasts a lot longer).

Lasting Power:  10/10
These are the first lip colors that I have found that ACTUALLY last. I am very lazy when it comes to lipstick. I do not like to reapply it. Maybe once a day I will actually be willing to reapply it, but that's about it.
I can eat and drink coffee and the color will stay on. It will not be AS vibrant, but the color doesn't set into lines and look crummy like most lipsticks do after you eat. The color also doesn't bleed horribly onto my coffee cup, eliminating that awkward moment when your coffee cup looks like it got attacked by a marker. Hours later, the color is still wearable. It just fades to a softer version of the original color. I have included this photo to illustrate the lasting power of these.

These are the same swatches from the above photo. This photo was taken in natural light in the same place as the other photo. I applied those swatches like 12 hours ago and washed my hands numerous times, yet you can still see the colors. It really takes a lot to get these off. Just keep that in mind if you want to wear a different lip color that same day.

Other things worth noting:
These do have a scent - they smell like peppermint. It is NOT overpowering and the scent only lasts when you are first applying them.
They are affordable ~ $7 at the drugstore.
Some people have reported a slight tingly feeling when applying the balm stains. I personally have not noticed that feeling.
They come in 12 shades, including a red!

Overall thoughts: 9.5/10
I really love these! I definitely plan on purchasing the other colors. I really wish I had bought these before I bought 90% of the other lip colors that I have. The colors are stunning and the color lasts for a really long time. I would recommend these for girls that are busy and don't want to waste time reapplying their lipstick or gloss all the time.

Thanks! Hope you guys enjoyed this review. Have you tried them? Leave your feedback below!

FOTD: Blue and Black

Today's look is a little darker than what I would normally wear for spring. I had a Revlon eyeshadow laying around that I had only used once, so I thought it would be nice to try it out for today. I'll just be running some errands (going to UPS, Walmart, etc) today. Nothing that I really needed to get dolled up, but playing with makeup is so much fun! I also thought this look was a way to wear blue eyeshadow without looking like a middle school girl who just learned what makeup was lol! I toned down the blue by adding a soft cream colored highlight and some black to add depth at the outer-v area. Since the eyes are more intense, I paired it with a soft peach cheek and a glossy neutral lip.

I hope that you all enjoy this look! Let me know what you think of it!

FOTD: Glasses/New foundation

Hi everyone! Sorry that I haven't been posting. I've been having some really bad allergy attacks lately, so my face has been too puffy to do any makeup looks. I recently purchased a new foundation, so I wanted to do a face of the day using it. I will be doing a full review on the foundation after I've used it a few more times. Stay tuned for more reviews and a new series of Monthly Favorites!

I think this look is a nice soft look for spring.

TAG: Before and After

I really wanted to do the Blog Tag Before and After, so I thought today would be a great day to do it. My husband is at work all day, so I had plenty of time to do this tag. On the left I have a photo of me without any makeup, hair styling, or a completed outfit. On the right, I have a photo of what I would call my completed look. I curled out my hair, added a scarf, and did my entire makeup. I really wanted an opportunity to try out my Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Fruiti. I really think it is a gorgeous lip color and I am sooo happy that I bought it. I have two other new Lip Butters to review that I will be doing very soon, so stay tuned!

It's different than anything I have ever created before! I hope that you all enjoy it as much as I do. I may do a tutorial on this look if anyone is interested. :)
